Obstructive Sleep Apnea
& Snoring in Richmond

ADULTS AND CHILDREN

If you have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and you cannot tolerate your C PAP equipment, we can help!  Research shows that oral appliance therapy is an effective treatment for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. This appliance is worn only while you are sleeping, to help maintain an open airway.

We can request a copy of your sleep study and consult with your Sleep Physician on whether an oral appliance is right for you.

Excessive daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, mood changes, morning headache, dry mouth, nighttime sweating, excessive trips to the bathroom at night or if your spouse has observed episodes of hindered breathing or abrupt awakenings, you may be suffering from sleep apnea.  Our office has a digital questionnaire we can send you to screen for this condition.  We also can coordinate your care with the proper referral to a sleep physician and discuss the different options available to you.  Successful treatment of sleep apnea can change your life!

Obstructive sleep apnea is not limited to adults.  Children can also suffer from this condition, and it may manifest itself as difficulty in concentrating or behavioral problems.  Early diagnosis and treatment are extremely important to prevent complications that can affect behavior, growth or cognitive development.  We can examine the size of the tonsils, adenoids, arch width and available space for the tongue, which could be pre-emptive signs of sleep apnea in children.

All our doctors at Richmond Landing Family Dentistry are trained to treat this condition.  If the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea is made, the oral appliance therapy may be covered by your medical insurance.  Just ask us!
